Aloha, and welcome to Tribal Fest 12: "The Year of the
Unicorn!"
Dates
this year are May 16-20, 2012. From what we are hearing, this will
be a very magical year! So don your unicorn horn and come on out
to join us. And remember, not all unicorns are about rainbows and
lucky charms. We've met some dark and wild unicorns as well, so
use your imaginations and enjoy the theme. (Yes, a sense of humor
and a good imagination are helpful when attending Tribal Fest!)
This
is our most spectacular year yet: we are proud to present 65 (that's
right: sixty-five!) different offerings, NOT counting Kajira's pre-TF
Teacher Trainings in Level One & Two! These opportunities for
learning, growth & inspiration will be shared by 46 teachers,
another Tribal Fest record!
New
this year are classes on Thursday, Friday & Saturday at the
Fairfield Inn, one of our host hotels in Sebastopol. Why not roll
out of bed and into the classroom? Then come on over to the Tribal
Fest site for shopping and the majority of workshops and mini-intensives.
These classes are listed along with the others by day, classroom
& time on the Detailed Class Schedules.
And,
since our Thursday night Meet & Greet was so successful last
year, we are doing it again! Come by the Main Hall on Thursday night
from 7:30-9:00 p.m. to meet the instructors and buy their wares.
The teachers will be vending that night and waiting to meet you!
This year the Sebastopol Community & Cultural Center will be
selling beer, wine & beverages during our Meet & Greet,
and Chef Shawn will have his usual delicious cuisine available.
Admission is free.
When
planning your Tribal Fest adventure, be sure to stay all five
days through Sunday's show as our headlining acts are always "must-see".
You don't want to see it on YouTube later and go "Darn, I missed
it!" All performances will be listed in our Program. So you
can plan, this year's headliners and special guests are:
*
Friday: The Violet Tribe of Germany will open The Show! This
amazing band of musicians and dancers has been "wowing"
Europe for a couple of years, and now you have a chance to see and
hear them in person in the U.S.! Check out their site: www.theviolettribe.de
Also, if you haven't heard their music yet, check out their CDs
"A Ravishing Collection of Curios" and "Grand Hotel",
now available at Amazon.com! Joining them after their set will be
BlackSheep BellyDance and special guests TBA!
Friday May 18th: ROMCORE closes the show at Tribal Fest 12! During
our performance, we will be collecting hotel shampoos and soaps
from the audience. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD. We will be taking these
items to a local domestic violence shelter. Women supporting women
through ROMCORE! (Gypsy Punk Belly Dance Collective)
* Saturday, closing The Show: Suhaila Salimpour & Bal Anat
* Sunday, closing The Show: The BHOOMI project, director Zoe jakes
featuring Auberon Shull and Kami liddle, special guests TBA

We are happy to have back as a Tribal Fest sponsor, Whole
Foods Market of Sebastopol. It is located not to far from Da Fest
for easy shopping. Last year Whole Foods had in-store specials in
Make-Up (Mahalo Jennifer!) and they even named a sandwich in their
fabulous deli for us! They also had great gift bags for all our
teachers and we thank them so much. Who knows what they will do
this year, but we are excited to see.
See
you at The Fest!
With
aloha from Kajira & Chuck
