TRIBAL
FEST 11: “It Goes To 11!"- Nigel
Tufnel, Spinal Tap
May 18-22, 2011
Welcome!
Aloha!
Tribal
Fest 11 stands to be a very special and unique event! From people
we have talked to that are already planning their performances,
it will ROCK! Need some inspiration? Watch the movie “Spinal Tap”
from which we have used their catch phrase, “It Goes To 11”
(we adjusted it a bit LOL).

This
year’s dates are May 18 – 22, 2011, in keeping with
our “always the 3rd full weekend in May and the days
preceding it” policy adopted since the very first Fest, so people
around the world can plan from year to year and so other event producers
know when not to hold their events in order to not create a conflict
for all of you festival-goers.
We
have a record number of teachers & classes this year at Tribal
Fest – 42 teachers and 56 classes in all. We say “Mahalo Nui Loa”
(thank you very much) to all the teachers who support us and go
out of their way to be a part of Tribal Fest. It truly means a lot
to us.

GREAT
NEWS!
THURSDAY
NIGHT “MEET & GREET”
We
are putting together a little something for you all to do on Thursday
night, May 19th 2011 at Tribal Fest....... Our first ever "MEET
& GREET!!"
7:30 pm – 9:00 pm. Every one is invited! It is free
and it is in the Main Hall so you won’t have to go anywhere. We
are talking to the caterer and hopefully they will be selling food.
The cool part is that we have invited all our Tribal Fest 11 teachers
to vend! Only the teachers will be vending. Most sell during their
classes but this will give you more chances to see their stuff longer
and pick their brains a bit.
Talk story, eat, hang with each other and get to know everyone.
NAME
THE SHEEP!
After
years of having our sheep as a logo, someone finally asked... "What
is its name?"
We have never named it. So we are having a contest to name the BlackSheep
Logo. Please check out our logo and see what you can come up with.
The winner will be announced on stage at Tribal Fest 11 and be awarded
Free Admission to all 3 days of the show at Tribal Fest 11 and a
set of Kajira's 3 BlackSheep BellyDance format DVDs. Please send
all ideas to TribalFest@aol.com The
winner will be notified before TF 11 by e-mail.
So here is a little "herstory"
for background......Kajira came up with the name BlackSheep BellyDance
as the name for her production company that puts on Tribal Fest
in 2001. BlackSheep BellyDance became her troupe’s name in 2001
also.
The first hand drawn sheep logo was done by Armando "Uncle
Mafufo" of Sirocco.... It has evolved over the years
with a number of people adding size and style to bring it to where
it is today. It is based on a female mountain sheep, so the sex
is, as we like to think, female. So your mission is to give it
a name. We reserve the right to pick and use the name for all eternity,
LOL! If we don't like any names, maybe we will do this again for
Tribal Fest 12.... Mahalo!
BIG
NEWS!!!!
The
Sebastopol Community Center
has added AIR
CONDITIONING!!!!
Sometimes
the temperature can get very warm in Sebastopol
and in the past we have just sweated it out during the show…. Last
year was the first year for this and it made for a wonderful weekend.
Shopping
and Vendors!
One
of the things that Tribal Fest is known for is the outstanding shopping
and wonderful array of vendors. We do get a huge flock of them!
Name someone you’ve heard of and chances are they will be there.
Also our “Teacher Vending Area” where all the Tribal
Fest teachers are able to vend all week, casual style. It is behind
the Youth Annex overlooking the beautiful Labyrinth.
NEW

news! The Fairfield Inn and Suites in Sebastopol
have agreed to give Tribal Fest attendees a GROUP RATE for TF 11!

forget! If you've already booked a room you can switch to the group
rate as well. www.winecountryhi.com/

All
the links on the left contain very important info about Da

you need to know will be here. The FAQ is VERY IMPORTANT!
We
look forward to see you at Tribal Fest 11! Please plan on staying
the whole weekend, here is a hint: FCBD will be closing the show
on Sunday.
We
hope that you have a great time at Tribal Fest 11! Thank you for
the love and support that you have shown us over the years.
