TRIBAL
FEST 10, "A Decade of DecaDance" - May 12-16, 2010
****4/21 News! We need your help!! Please
read!****
Welcome!
WOW!
What a ride it has been 10 years! Who remembers Tribal Fest
1? Tribal Fest has come a long way since then and we could not
have done it without the love and support that so many have
shown us over the years. There are so many to thank and acknowledge
and we hope to share some of that in the official Tribal Fest
program you can buy on-site.
Putting
on Tribal Fest is a labor of love and watching it grow during
the last 10 years has been a wonderful wild ride. From our hearts,
we say thank you! - Kajira and Chuck.
We
have a lot of information and so the best thing to do is print
it all out and grab a cup of tea or coffee, sit back relax and
read. There are some major changes this year for performing
and other info that you will want to keep on hand.
This
year's dates are May 12 - 16, 2010, in keeping with our "always
the 3rd full weekend in May and the days preceding it"
policy adopted since the very first Fest, so people around the
world can plan from year to year and so other event producers
know when not to hold their events in order to not create a
conflict for all of you festival-goers.
GREAT
NEWS!
There
is a NEW OFFERING, held the week-end BEFORE TF 10 , May 7 -
9, 2009:
By
popular demand, Kajira will be holding a Level One Teacher Training
course in her Kajira Djoumahna/BlackSheep BellyDance Format
for Synchronized Group Improvisational Tribal Style BellyDance
(a.k.a KD/BSBD SGI TS BD) : This course will be held on May
7 - 9 for about 7 or more hours per day.
So
plan to arrive early, and take the two days in between to enjoy
Bodega Bay, the Wine Country, famous Osmosis Spa, and the gorgeous
Sonoma Mountains, the healing waters of Calistoga, the amazing
Redwoods - or even San Francisco.
TEACHERS!
We
have an outstanding line-up of teachers this year. Some of your
favorites have returned and some teachers that are new to Tribal
Fest as we do every year. In fact, that is how many of our teachers
got their start! We are so proud of you! : We are having fewer
teachers for TF 10 than in the recent past. This is so we can
have some of the teachers offer multi-day mini intensives and
give you a chance to really submerse yourself in what they are
teaching.
BIG
NEWS!!!!
The
Sebastopol Community Center has added AIR CONDITIONING!!!!
This will make Tribal Fest 10 the coolest Tribal Fest EVER!
Sometimes the temperature can get very warm in Sebastopol and
in the past we have just sweated it out during the show
.
BUT now it should be a pleasure to sit and comfortably watch
all the wonderful performances!
Returning
for Tribal Fest 10, TRIBAL JAM BAND 2!!
Last
year we had so much fun with the first ever Tribal Jam band
that we are doing it again. There will be a core group of players
headed by the wonderful Jeremiah Soto of Solace and EMP Productions
fame! We will have a couple of guest players with him to start
off with BUT the cool part is that YOU will get the chance to
jump on stage with whatever you play and jam with the band for
an open floor! Bring your drum, zills, shakers or whatever and
lets again make a lot of noise for the dancers to dance open
floor to.
Shopping
and Vendors!
One
of the things that Tribal Fest is known for is the outstanding
shopping and wonderful array of vendors. We do get a huge flock
of them, counting our teachers over 65 last year!! Name someone
you've heard of and chances are they will be there. Also our
"Teacher Vending Area" where all the Tribal Fest teachers
are able to vend all week, casual style. It is behind the Youth
Annex over looking the beautiful Labyrinth.
All
the links on the left contain very important info about Da Fest!
Please take time to scour the web site and hopefully everything
you need to know will be here.
We would like to take a second and say "Mahalo Nui Loa"
(thank you very much) for voting Tribal Fest "Favorite
Event & Producer" in Zaghareet Magazine's annual "Golden
Belly Awards" readers poll. It truly means a lot to us!
We hope that you have a great time at Tribal Fest 10, "A
Decade of DecaDance"
Aloha and Mahalo, Kajira Djoumahna and Chuck
